4차 산업혁명 시대의 메인 키워드 중 하나가 ‘융합’이라는 데 이견을 표하는 이는 없을 것이다. 우리가 살아가는 오늘은 가히 융합의 시대라 할 만하다. 지금처럼 사회 전반, 전 영역에서 융합의 필요성과 중요성을 강조한 시기는 없었다.
융합은 창조의 원동력이다. 융합의 태생 자체가 둘 이상의 서로 다른 요소가 합쳐져 또 하나의 새로움을 만드는 것이다. 빨강과 파랑을 섞어 만든 보라색, 0과 1의 조합으로 탄생한 컴퓨터 언어 등이 모두 융합의 산물이다. 서로 다른 무언가를 두고 상상하고 결합하며 도전하고 협심하게 하는 것, 그렇게 기존에 없던 새로움을 탄생시키는 힘이 융합이다.
또한 융합은 문제해결의 열쇠다. 갈수록 고도화하고 복잡, 다양해지는 사회 속에서 우리는 하나의 지식이나 관점만으로는 해결되지 않는 문제들을 마주하곤 한다. 그러니 해답을 얻기 위해서는 그만큼 다채로운 관점과 지식이 필요하다. 우리 사회를 이해하고, 산적한 여러 사회 문제를 해결하는 데 융합은 꼭 필요한 요소다. 결국 우리가 찾는 미래의 원동력과 혁신의 답은 융합에 있다. 다양한 가능성과 시너지 효과로 우리 사회에 새로운 활력을 불어넣는 ‘융합’에 대해 짚어보자.
Everyone would agree that one of the main keywords in the era of the 4th industrial revolution is “convergence.” It can be said that we live in the era of convergence. There has never been a time when the necessity and importance of convergence was so much emphasized in all areas of society.
Convergence is the impetus leading to creation. The birth of convergence itself is the creation of a novelty by combining two or more different elements. Purple made combining red and blue; and computer language made by combining 0 and 1 - are both creations of convergence. Convergence is the power of imagining, combining, challenging, and uniting different things, thereby creating something new that never existed before.
Convergence is also the key to problem solving. In the increasingly advanced, complex, and diverse society, we face problems that cannot be solved by a single piece of knowledge or a perspective alone. To get an answer, you need a lot of different perspectives and knowledge. Convergence is an essential element in understanding our society and solving various social problems.
Ultimately, the driving force for the future we are looking for and the answer to innovation lies in convergence. We will therefore take a look at “convergence,” which vitalizes our society with various possibilities and synergy effects.
